Amulets have their roots deep in history and only until modern times have these long worn objects been almost entirely forsaken. Particularly during medieval years, amulet pendants were worn for a number of purposes including warding off evil, curing sickness, and protecting the wearer.

This 17th century heart is entirely hand made of silver and encases faceted rock crystal. It has a strong Gothic pointed, almost serrated and decorative border in silver that is typical of jewelry and some objects found during this century.

Rock crystal remains cool to the touch in most situations, far cooler than glass. Its faceting structure creates smaller diamonds shapes to the top and elongated four sided shapes from the center downward. Fashioned in a heart shape, both back and front are polished.

Rimmed with herringbone silver metal work, there are hand engraved designs on each point, then a twisted wire border finishes the edges. An exceptional relic from over three hundred years ago.
