Any heart you see with a curved tip is often termed a witch's heart.

Yet quite the opposite of what you might first presume, these represent good luck. Long in lore and history, this specialized motif dates back to at least the 15th century in Scotland.

In the style of famed enamelists such as Guilano, this heart's front is covered with vivid cobalt blue enamel with white dots. Its edge, the opposite, is decorated with an opaque white ground with blue pinpricks of color.

At the center, a natural saltwater pearl rests in a crimped gold collet; and the same is studded around the edge. Eighteen in all ranging in size from 3-3.5 mm in diameter and all beautifully matched and graduated in size.

The reverse shows off hand-engraved details around the perimeter. Its original tube hinge and "C" clasp are still intact. The jewel is 14k yellow gold.

Later pendant fittings have been added and another fitting is suitable for attaching a safety chain and pin.

Note: The enamel is in excellent condition, any white areas are reflections from the lights.
