Description

Three multi-colored butterflies appear to flit and fly in a grassland scene. Rendered in polychrome enamels of both opaque and translucent types, the predominant hues are in the green range, blues and deep coppery reds.

The locket is oval in shape, deep and rounded with a matching original sculptural bale. The superb Victorian pendant's interior holds one silver rim and plastic cover suitable for placing a photograph or memento underneath.

Dating from circa 1880, the artist's touch is evident in the life-like miniature painting of these ethereal insects.
